Q: Is there an entrance examination for bachelor programs in China's universities?
A: There is no entrance exam for most universities. Currently, there are 6 universities organize students to take entrance exams for bachelor programs. They are Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, University of International Business and Economics, Fudan University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Q: How can I apply for universities through your application system? And what kinds of materials are needed?
A: (1) Overall Procedure
You need only to complete the following procedure which is very convenient and time saving
1. Click “Apply”
2. Fill in online application
3. Upload all the required documents and Submit your application
4. Pay the application fee
5. Wait for the application results
Important notice: You need to create an account before applying. Account name needs to be a valid email, which will be used to receive our system notice.
(2) Required documents
1. One photocopy of your passport;
2. Passport-size Photos of the applicant;
3. Official transcripts;
4. An official certificate of your highest education; or an official Certificate of Enrollment for the ones still on campus.
5. Two Recommendation Letters from professors in the same academic field (The letters should be written in the blank recommendation form and enclosed in special envelopes with seal);
6. Language Proficiency certificate; (Certificate of HSK for Chinese-taught Programs. Official copy of TOEFL or IELTS scores for applicants whose first language is not English for English-taught Programs)
7.  Personal Statement including previous study and work experiences, academic research achievement, planned research proposal, and individual development objective after graduation.
Notice: Note that all Certificates or Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be notarized in Chinese or English editions.
Q: After submitting my application files, how can I get the response from the university?
A: It normally takes 7 to 10 working days for the admission office to process the application and to prepare the offering package with visa supporting document. They will send you the relevant files for registration via e-mail or post office. If you have not received a reply for more than 2 weeks, you can contact our customer service.
Q: Is application fee refundable?
A: It is non-refundable. Application fee is charged by the university. Once you submit your application, it will be processed by the university. No matter you are accepted or rejected, the application fee is non-refundable.
Q: Can I pay the application fee after I get admitted?
A: No. The universities require students to pay the application fee during application; otherwise, your application won’t be processed.
Q: How to deal with declined applications?
A: CTUAS will help international students if their applications are declined.Most students who apply through CTUAS are accepted. However, please note that in accordance with national security policy, Chinese universities have quotas on the number of students from certain countries who can be admitted. If your application is declined by your first choice university, CTUAS will recommend other universities which still have availability.
If an application is declined, the university will provide a letter explaining why on request.
In addition, the applicant will receive an e-mail notice from CTUAS if his/her application cannot be accepted by the university. Meanwhile, the applicant will get free advice regarding availability at other universities.
Q: How to track my application progress?
A: Once you have completed your application, you can track progress in your personal CUCAS account and reply to your offers.
It normally takes 4 to 8 weeks for a university's admissions office to process an application and prepare the admission package with the documents you will need to apply for a Chinese visa. If you have not received a reply for more than 4 weeks, you can send an e-mail to CTUAS to solve the problem. Please include your application ID in the e-mail.
Applicants can login to their personal account to check the progress of their application. The "Application Status" will be updated as soon as the admissions office makes the decision, and the CTUAS system will send a confirmation e-mail to your registered e-mail address. Once the decision is made by the university, it will take several business days (5-15 days) to send your Admission Letter and JW202 form. Both these documents are needed to apply for a student visa.
